The sketch for this piece has been in my sketch collection for a few years. (I don't have a sketch book; I have files of drawings and sketches in a big old Harvest Gold file cabinet that has seen way too many moves.)

When I was asked to be included in Of History And Hope, I had initially focused on a Tiger painting. I worked on this Bear for a break from the Tiger. But dang nab'it this bear became my first love.  I could feel this painting getting quiet - making the space more ethereal - less defined.  I'm sure I'll start making noise again and obsessing about those roots branches and trees.

I'll be posting the finished painting Change Of Heart. In the meantime

Also, save the date!  Saturday June 7th, 2014 from 6:30-9:00.  All I can say is "Pandamonium." More info to come.
